An adventure that transcends distance.

WACHAU160 – The new ultra-adventure 2026

164 kilometers. One lap. An experience that will change you.

The WACHAU160 is more than just a new distance for me.

It is an invitation to experience the Wachau region in a way you would never otherwise see it – raw, honest, unvarnished and incredibly powerful.

With this 164-kilometer loop, we want to create an adventure that takes you on a journey around the very soul of the Wachau. Every path, every hill, every old trail on the southern bank carries a story, and I want you to feel it – step by step.

The first 74 kilometers: Self-Supported+ (optional crew) :

You. Alone. Pure Wachau.

You decide how you master the route - your path, your decision.

And that, for me, is precisely where the magic of this first section lies:

The Wachau region shows you who you are when there are no distractions.

At the WACHAU160, you decide how you master the first 74 km to the first refreshment station in Pielachberg:
No markings. No aid stations. Completely on your own.

Option 1: Self-support

You're going without a crew and providing for yourself.

You will receive all the information from us in advance about:

  • public water sources

  • Shops & Gas Stations

  • vending machines

Option 2: Self-supported+

You have access to a personal support crew.
We give you:

  • all official support zones

  • precise access options for your crew

You decide how you tackle this challenge – solo or with a team.
The WACHAU160 requires personal responsibility, planning and a genuine sense of adventure.

Important: All participants are required to use a GPS tracker, which will be provided by the organizer. This is the only way we can guarantee safety and traceability throughout the entire adventure.

From the Pielachberg rest stop you are once again part of the bigger picture – with food, support and the strength of our community accompanying you every step of the way.

FAQ: What exactly does “Self-Supported+ (optional Crew)” mean?

The WACHAU160 is no ordinary competition.

It is a mirror.
A borderline experience.
A journey back to what makes us human: courage, dedication, and the ability to transcend ourselves.

If you embark on this adventure, I promise you one thing:
You come back a different person than when you left.

Map

Because the WACHAU160 involves long unsupported sections, GPS navigation, and a tight time limit, this distance will be open exclusively to trail runners in 2026. Participation as a hiker is not possible for safety and time reasons.
